#1. Recognized but remains undiagnosed.
This page is about
category one
(1) of the following five
possible categories that I think chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) sufferers may
fall into:
1. People
that have an already recognized (orthodox) disorder that remains undiagnosed.
2.
People
that have Aldehyde Dehydrogenase deficiency/malfunction.
3. People
who have problems with "bugs".
4.
People
who have several different problems that all add up to a CFS illness.
5. People
who have a mixture of one or more of the above.

To have an already recognized (orthodox) disorder that is being called CFS
and that remains undiagnosed one must have some problem that is characterized by
tiredness and aching muscles and that is associated with a variety of other
symptoms.
Not too many visitors to this web page are likely to fit into this category
because they will most probably have been to a number of physicians and
specialists without any definitive diagnosis being made other than CFS. Most
will have had screening blood tests that are quite good at ruling out most of
the usual possibilities.
The following is a list of possible disorders that could mask for CFS but are
not really CFS (because they are other recognized clinical entities well known
to at least some of the medical community). It is not an exhaustive list.
- Amyloidosis
- Aspartame consumption (excessive, which is probably not much for some).
- B12 deficiency
- Cervical Canal Stenosis
- Chiari Syndrome
- Coeliac Disease (gluten sensitivity with villous atrophy).
- Crohn’s Disease
- Diabetes
- Excessive exposure to Inorganic Chlorine (excessive exposure to -
including Chlorinated Water in swimming pools).
- Hypoglycemia.
- Hypothyroidism
- Liver disease
- Lyme Disease (see also
Category #3).
- Metal poisoning (lead, mercury, cadmium, copper, aluminium).
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
- Pharmaceutical Drugs. Many can -- ask your doctor.
- Poisoning
- Sarcoidosis
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
Footnotes.
1. There is a sixth possible category called "the unknown
disorder". But I have not included this as I cannot write anything about
it! I guess there must still be some undiscovered disorders out there that could
cause all the problems of CFS, but I don't think there would be many who
fall completely into this category.
